Absolutely wonderful
For Seasons 1 -3 I would give 5 stars, but the series seriously falls down in Seasons 4 – 5, which is why I give it 2 stars. The message of why, and how Jesus Christ came to the world to provide the only bridge (i.e. the unblemished sacrificial lamb) back to God becomes so convoluted and lost in the series by seasons 4 - 5. It’s a contradiction to the simplicity for Jesus’ message. The series makes the path to salvation so confusing and broken apart, not only to the apostles on the show, but to anyone watching it. The road to salvation is not made clear on how Jesus' work would do away with animal sacrifices and move the followers of Jehovah from the age of Law to the Age of Grace. It does not clearly show how Jesus' dying of the cross and being resurrected gave Him the authority over death (fulfilling the prophecy of Genisis 3:15) and a path for all peoples of the world to reach God without the Jewish laws of cleanliness, what foods to eat, etc. The series fails to stress that Jesus is the perfect sacrificial lamb (only human without sin) that will take on the sins of anyone who believes and atone for their sins to make them worthy to stand before God. Instead by Season 5 Jesus acts like a “basket case”. I agree showing Him having human emotions, but also show how his superior knowledge can overcome anxiety. The unknown breeds fear, but Jesus is all-knowing, therefore his anxiety and fear is not out of facing the unknown. For example, Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane anguishing about his impending death should not only fear the physical pain, but that He has to bow down to his creation, who are sinners and imperfect, to be judged and punished. Furthermore, his isolation from Heaven in the time on the cross when he proclaims that His Father has forsaken Him to the resurrection should be a part of his deep anguish. All of this is not even mentioned in Season 5.
I also have issue with the series having Jesus always saying that he is starting a "new kingdom", when in fact it is the same kingdom of God that since the beginning of time. What His ministry is doing was showing the world the true one and only path that will reconcile all peoples to God because no matter how many Mosaic Laws we follow, or how many animal blood sacrifices are done people always fall short. He had to be the blood sacrifice to pay for our sins. It is this innate evil within our hearts that prevented us from receiving the Holy Spirit in the age of Mosaic Law, which was overcome in the Age of Grace with Jesus Christ.
I got all 4 seasons of the Chosen and i will be glad when season 5 comes out so i can buy it to. i found all 4 very insperational
Amazing
I haven't opened the set as I have watched the Chosen many times. I bought these for posterity; to share later with family, friends, grandkids. etc. I absolutely love The Chosen. Dallas' work is truly inspired and the cast is fabulous too.
